<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evading from side effects caused by a medicament when administering a thiazide-based diuretic by regulating the dose. <P>SOLUTION: The marker for detecting the variation of an amino acid residue of a thiazide-sensitive Na-Cl cotransporter (SLC12A3) is provided. The marker can be used for diagnosing the metabolic alkalosis, and for detecting the sensitivity of a patient to the thiazide-based diuretic.
