PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print an image of a printing object including an extremely fine line or a small-size character by a good quality. SOLUTION: Printing data as an original of the printing object described by PDL is converted to image data of a low resolution by 8 bits per one pixel one color (130). A density variation part resulting from the variation of an environmental condition or the like is corrected for the image data after conversion. The image data after density correction is subjected to a screening process and converted to image data of a high resolution by one bit per one pixel one color (binary). At the time of printing the original of the printing object by using the binary/high resolution image data, it is detected whether the original of the printing object includes the extremely fine line of a thickness smaller than 0.12 pt or the small-size character of a size smaller than 6 pt (122). In the case where the extremely fine line or the small-size character is included, printing data corresponding to the extremely fine line or the small-size character is converted to the binary/high resolution image data (124) and is used for printing without carrying out density correction or reconversion of a format of the image data.
