PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which prevents a lock means keeping the securing condition of a stick attachable to and detachable from a cleaner body to the cleaner body from being erroneously operated. SOLUTION: A body handle 2c having base sections 21, 22 continuous to a grip portion 23 are arranged in the cleaner body 2 to which the stick 4 is attachably and detachably attached by forming the grip portion 23 and a space S which enables gripping of the grip portion. A cancelling member 35 for cancelling a lock means 29 preventing the inserting end 4a of the stick 4 inserted into the base section 21 which is also used as a stick connecting section from coming off is formed.
