PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem with a conventional network telephone set that needed complicated control in order to cope with various services provided via a public telephone line when the conventional network telephone set is provided with a connection function with the public telephone line. SOLUTION: The telephone set 60 disclosed herein is provided with a circuit for directly connecting a DAA 50 for exchanging a signal with the public telephone line PT to an SLIC 70 for exchanging a signal with the telephone set 60 at parts of PCM output signals of the DAA 50 and the SLIC 70. A through-mode controller 49 detects the arrival of a call from a side of the public telephone line PT on the basis of the PCM signal outputted from the DAA 50 and outputs a control signal, which is used to select the circuit for the PCM signal. Since the DAA 50 and the SLIC 70 are directly connected in this case, the telephone set 60 connected to a telephone port 61 of the SLIC 70 processes the analysis and the response of a signal required for the various services provided via the public telephone PT.
