PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor, improving the cooling effect while using the outside air. SOLUTION: In this linear motor, a lid part 19 of a cup 17 connected to an outer yoke 16 is provided with a lid pierced hole 22 formed to introduce the air from the outside, and a dust seal lip 44 of a dust seal 43 fitted to a spring bracket 38 is bent to discharge the air. In the linear motor, the air is introduced into a first air chamber 33A through the lid pierced hole 22 by the elongation of a cylinder 5 to a piston rod 7 to flow in a second air chamber 33B through a flange pierced hole 30, and flow into a third air chamber 33C through a gap 42 between a center yoke and a bracket gap and the cover bottom pierced hole 35. In the contraction operation, a dust seal lip 44 is made afloat by a pressure rise in the second air chamber 33B caused by the contraction operation to discharge the air.
