PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that image data not contained in the memory of a main body cannot be sequentially processed from its head, in processing of image files of a file format in which header data exist for indicating main scanning length, sub-scanning length and resolution in the middle or end of the file. SOLUTION: When the image data existing in an external storage device are outputted from the head from a main apparatus, the data are loaded while read and aborted until the information indicating the characteristics of the image data appears. Upon finding the information indicating the characteristics of the image data, all the information are acquired and the same image file is loaded from its head, and the image data are decoded to create image data for output.
