the vehicle lock has a switch shaft (2) with tilt lever (3) for actuating the child safety lock. At one of the end sides of this shaft are connectors (4) for transferring the torque introduced there and to actuate the child lock the switch shaft can be switched either through the tilt lever or through the connectors depending on the type of installation. When installing the shaft for sole operation through the connectors the tilt lever is then located in a position which does not protrude outside of the lock. The connectors at the end of the shaft can be formed as a simple transverse slot (4).
