PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus which enables maintenance to be surely performed even in the execution of high-speed and high-image-quality image recording, which can reduce the manufacturing cost of a maintenance device, and which can downsize the maintenance device. SOLUTION: Characteristically, this inkjet recording apparatus is equipped with the maintenance device which comprises a maintenance unit for performing the maintenance of a recording head, and a maintenance unit cover for covering the maintenance unit; the maintenance unit cover is equipped with an opening for protruding a cap base, which is provided in the maintenance unit, from the maintenance unit cover, so as to bring the cap base into close contact with the recording head; and the opening is equipped with a light shielding plate for shielding the cap base against an ultraviolet ray applied from a black light.
