<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving a plasma display panel, by which stable high speed writing can be conducted and rise of black luminance is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: In an initialization period of each subfield constituting one field, there is carried out either an all cell initialization operation, for making all discharge cells which display images perform initialization discharge; or a selective initialization operation, for making a discharge cell which has performed maintenance discharge in the last subfield selectively perform initialization discharge. Initialization operations in each initialization period of the subfields are determined to be either of the all-cell initialization operation or the selective initialization operation, according to the APL (Average Picture Level) of an image signal which should be displayed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
