For amending a curve (130) in a computer implemented design system, a user inputs a set of points (132) to the system, using a haptic device. Based on the existing curve and on the inputted set of points, a polyline is computed. The amended curve (134) is created on the basis of the polyline. The process makes it possible to amend an existing curve in the design system, without having to use control points. The user may amend the curve with strokes inputted with the haptic device, in a process similar to the process used for paper drafting. <IMAGE>
