Process for determining the lack of oil in a combustion engine of a vehicle comprises determining the oil pressure from the signal of an oil pressure sensor and determining a characteristic value for the revolution of the engine, determining a lowest oil pressure at the actual engine operating conditions depending on the revolution and engine oil temperature values, and displaying the oil condition when the measured oil pressure value exceeds the lowest oil pressure. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for determining the lack of oil in a combustion engine of a vehicle. Preferred Features: The lowest oil pressure value is stored in a table storage unit.
