Multilayered fibrous product and a process for the production thereof

A multi-layer fibrous product and the method for producing it are described. The product comprises at least two overlapping fibre layers where the top layer contains a filler and is lighter than the layer under it. The filler consists at least partially of cellulose or lignocellulose fibrils produced by refining and screening of plant fibres, on which light scattering material particles have been precipitated. Various thicknesses of the product and light scattering materials which are useful, including calcium carbonate and barium sulphate, are also disclosed. An example of a use for the product is explained to be in the manufacture of white surface liner with a lighter top layer without impairment of the strength of the surface.
