<p>The invention relates to a side wall for closing the casting space of an installation for continuously casting, with two cylinders, particularly used for casting steel strips, and to a casting installation equipped this way. According to the invention, the side wall (11) closes a casting space (6) of an installation for continuously casting the metal strips, said installation comprising two cylinders (5 and 5') which rotate in contrary direction, said cylinders being cooled internally, having horizontal axes, the lateral cylindrical surfaces defining the casting space (6), whose width, at the free play between the cylinders (5 and 5') determines the strip thickness. The mentioned lateral wall (11) has an active part (3) whic is in contact with some front surfaces (4) of the cylinders (5 and 5'), during the casting and sheathes the mentioned casting space (6), the dimensions of the active part (3) are so selected that a lower margin thereof (12) is at a distance (d) equal to at least 1 mm above the free play (7) between the cylinders, when the lateral wall (11) is mounted in the casting installation. According to the invention, the installation for continuously casting the metal strips comprises two cylinders (5 and 5') which rotate in contrary direction, the lateral surfaces of these cylinders defining the casting space (6) whose width, at the free play (7) between the cylinders (5 and 5'), determines the strip thickness, and two lateral walls (11) for closing the casting space thereof.</p> |
