<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus capable of surely detecting such obstacles as wrinkles and trash on a medium to be recorded. <P>SOLUTION: In this inkjet recording apparatus, a clearance sensor mechanism 8 for detecting the trash and the wrinkles on the medium to be recorded is provided on an inkjet printer by which printing is performed by scanning an inkjet head while a platen 5 on which the medium to be recorded is placed is transferred. When a plate-like member 84 provided between a default position where a platen 5 waits for and a printing practicing position where the inkjet head scans comes into contact with the trash and the wrinkles on the medium to be recorded placed on the platen 5, a concealing member 85 with the plate-like member 84 are rotated around the axial line direction of a shaft member 81. When rotation of the concealing member 85 is detected by a sensor 88, the platen 5 is transferred in the reverse direction.
