PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stable print quality by detecting and controlling the surface temperature of a preheater plate by closest approaching to the printing paper running on the surface of the preheater plate, without being brought into contact with the printing paper, regardless of the printing conditions, such as the printing speed or the use of printing paper. SOLUTION: In the fixing part of an electronic photographic printer, the printing paper holding an unfixed toner image is made to pass on the preheater plate arranged with a plurality of heaters in the same, then made to transport while being clamped between the press contact parts of a heater roll and press roll, while heating and pressing for fixing the toner image. In the printing paper running area, an adjusting means for making the temperature sensor for detecting the surface temperature of the printing paper running side of the preheater plate closest approach to the printing paper, without being brought into contact with the printing paper, is provided.
