<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect the presence or absence of objects without reducing analysis performance. <P>SOLUTION: Both additional information, having the shadows of vehicles and buildings present adjacently to analytical areas a-e in an example in Fig. 3 as error determination factors at a determination part 252 and data on analytical areas a'-e' for avoidance having shapes and ranges required for avoiding error determination factors indicated in the additional information, are previously prepared for each analysis area a-e. This object-detecting apparatus is provided with both an additional information setting part 251 and an error determination avoiding part 253, and for each analytical area a-e, sets the additional information corresponding to the error determination factors generated according to environmental changes, such as the brightness of the vicinity of the analytical areas a-e and times in determination results of the determination part 252 or image data. When the presence or absence of the objects present in the analytical areas a-e is determined by the determination part 252, the error determination avoiding part 253 makes reference to the additional information, corresponding to the analytical areas a-e and uses the analytical areas a'-e' for avoidance, corresponding to the additional information instead of the analytical areas a-e, when the additional information is being set. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
