PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arithmetic unit that allows effective use of a PCI slot in a mainboard, while enabling a server management add-on card to be miniaturized according to SO-DIMM specifications. SOLUTION: The arithmetic unit includes a mainboard with one or more electronic components mounted thereon; an SO-DIMM (small outline dual in-line memory module) slot having a first group of contacts mounted on the mainboard and connected to the electronic components; and a hardware management add-on card detachably inserted into the SO-DIMM slot so as to be able to monitor the electronic components and having a second group of contacts electrically connected to the first group of contacts.
