<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the responsiveness of zoom processing for a zoom instruction. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 301 recognizes the character in an image region being displayed when the image is displayed. The CPU judges the size of the character if there is the character. If the size of the character is not a fixed size, the CPU predicts the probable instruction for zooming from an operator so as to make the character pixel to the fixed size and previously reads the data necessary for the zoom processing out of a storage 310 into a pre-read region 311 even if there is no zoom processing. When the zoom instruction is input, the CPU judges whether the data necessary for zoom processing is pre-read in the pre-read region 311 or not and if the data is pre-read therein, the CPU conducts the zoom processing by using the data existing in the pre-read region.
