<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is no effective tool for automatically extracting featured values from an ideogram, and for comparing ideograms by executing statistical analysis on the basis of the extracted featured values, and the analysis of the ideogram depends on researcher's knowledge accumulated on the basis of the years of his or her experience. <P>SOLUTION: This chromosome ideogram analyzing system is provided with a featured value extracting means for recognizing a closed polygon on a chromosome ideogram as a chromosome area, and for automatically extracting featured values in the recognized chromosome area, a storage means for associating the extracted featured values with the chromosome ideogram, and for storing it in a chromosome database, and a transmitting means for transmitting the chromosome ideogram and the featured values associated with this through a network to the user terminal.
