PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable polyester fiber having excellent stability in a process from a spinning step to a knitting or weaving step. SOLUTION: The biodegradable polyester fiber has an oil containing the following components (a) to (c) in the following percentages and imparted thereto, and has 0.20-0.40 coefficient of static friction between the fiber and a metal: (a) 50-98 wt.% polyorganosiloxane and/or mineral oil; (b) 1-10 wt.% polyether-modified polyorganosiloxane and/or amino-modified polyorganosiloxane; and (c) 1-10 wt.% partial phosphate ester of a compound obtained by adding 0-10 mol ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide to an 8-18C alcohol.
