<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately decide the top-and-bottom direction of an image including the face of a figure as an object. <P>SOLUTION: A face image including the face of a figure is acquired (S2), and the eyes and mouth are detected from the acquired face image (S4), and the top-and-bottom direction of the face image is decided based on the position of the mouth corresponding to the positions of the eyes in the face image (S8). The face image whose top-and-bottom direction is decided is rotated (S12), and stored (S16). The face image may not be rotated, and the top-and-bottom direction and the image may be stored.
