PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate changing and maintaining a configuration around a reading surface, and replacing members. SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 1 comprises an apparatus main body provided with a first reading surface 11 and a second reading surface 12 on its top, and a main body cover provided on the upper part of the apparatus main body so as to be openable/closable. A positioning member 17 for setting an original P at the right position on the first reading surface is provided on a boundary region between the first reading surface and the second reading surface. The positioning member 17 is formed into a arch, has elasticity and is configured so as to be corrected by applying a force. A protrusion stream 175 is provided along a longitudinal direction on the end of the first reading surface 11 side on the bottom surface of the positioning member 17. Also, a white reference member 19 is stuck on the bottom surface of the positioning member 17.
