PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit which picks up images in a plurality of directions by switching, the imaging device being characterized in that the device is prevented from being large-sized and wide-angle imaging is made possible. SOLUTION: The imaging unit is equipped with a single imaging element 51, lens systems 55 to 57 which are arranged on optical paths of respective lights guided to the imaging device 51 from a plurality of directions and include wide-angle lenses, and light control elements 58a and 58b which are arranged on the optical paths of the respective lights to image the respective lights guided to the imaging element 51 from the plurality of directions selectively on the imaging element 51 by switching their light control characteristics. Then, the light control elements which are arranged on the optical paths of the light where the wide-angle lenses 55 and 56 are arranged between the light control elements 58a and 58b are interposed behind the wide-angle lenses 55 and 56 among the lens systems 55 to 57.
