PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an area from enlarging even if the number of recording elements increases. SOLUTION: For the recording-head element substrate equipped with two or more recording elements arranged in the specified direction, a drive circuit for driving the recording element, an element selection circuit for selecting the recording elements in each group based on an image data for every group which makes the adjoining specified numbers of the recording elements a unit and a drive selection circuit for selecting one of the recording elements in each group, at least either one of the element selection circuit and the drive selection circuit is arranged by adjoining the drive circuit of each group.
