PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet with a surface profile which can sufficiently endure for rapid welding and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This surface-treated steel sheet with excellent weldability is characterized in that when the surface-treated steel sheet for can manufacture is worked to obtain welded cans, (PPI in the C direction)×(PPI in the L direction) is set to not less than 40,000 and Rmax in the C direction and the L direction is set to not more than 5μm. In addition, in the method for manufacturing the steel sheet for welded cans with excellent weldability, the PPI in the C direction and the PPI in the L direction of the surface of the roll to be used for temper rolling, are set to not less than 250 in terms of a cut level of 10μinch, when the steel sheet is manufactured.
