The fastening system consists of blocks (1) that are fixed to the surfaces of panels, each block having two pairs of parallel opposite faces (20, 23) and chamfered corners, with one end (24) of each block made with a projection (4) and a cavity (5) to engage with opposite matching surfaces on a second block attached to a support or adjoining panel. The projections and cavities have sloping sides for easier engagement, and each block has pairs of identical through holes for fixings. The blocks can be made from polymers or metals such as Zamak (RTM), aluminium, steel or stainless steel.
