METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIATING ATOXIGENIC STRAINS OF CHOLERA VIBRIO FROM TOXIGENIC STRAINS

FIELD: medicinal microbiology. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves Marten's solid nutrient agar-medium at pH 9.0 with Nile sky blue sulfate as indicator and emulsified chicken fat as substrate taken in concentrations 1.0-1.2 mg and 1.0-1.5 ml, respectively, per 100 ml of medium. Seeds are incubated with indicated medium for 48 h at temperature 37°C. Toxigenic cholera vibrios without lipase activity form a microlawn stained for sky blue color as a medium. In the presence of lipase activity typical for atoxigenic (hemolytic) strains of choleric vibrios a microlawn is stained for yellow or bottle-green color on sky blue background of the nutrient medium. Method provides standardization with simultaneous simplifying of its realization.
