<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately initialize an optical information recording medium, or to enhance an yield in the manufacturing of the optical information recording medium by preventing a phenomenon that initialization stops during a process. <P>SOLUTION: In the initialization of an information layer which has a burst cutting area (hereafter, referred to as BCA), at least one initialization condition among laser power, a linear velocity, and a focal position of a laser beam to the information layer is changed between the BCA area and an data area for recording and reproducing information. In the initialization of an information layer which does not have the BCA, at least one initialization condition among laser power, the linear velocity, the focal position to the information layer of the laser beam, and a feed pitch is changed between an area corresponding to the BCA area and the data area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI.
