PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device with a hand-feed function which extends handling facility to a user without extremely shortening the life of a device due to the occurrence of a size error of a sheet in a multiple hand-feed operation. SOLUTION: In this recording device, when a copy is taken on one of printing sheets supplied by a sheet supply part (ST1 and ST2), it is determined whether or not the size of the sheet is erroneous (ST3). Then, when the size is detected to be erroneous, it is determined whether hand paper feed or not (ST4). In the case of a hand-feed operation of the sheet, it is determined whether or not there is a following page to be printed and when the following page is not available, the process is terminated, disregarding the detection of the size error of the sheet (ST5). If there is the following page to be printed, the operation is switched to a sheet size setting operation (ST8), regarding the present printing sheet as normal (ST7). COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
