<p>The invention relates to a method for the preparation of a resin-reinforced aqueous polymeric dispersion. The invention is characterised in that it comprises (i) a polymerisation in miniemulsion step and (ii) a polymerisation in emulsion step. The inventive method can be used to produce reinforced aqueous polymeric dispersions having improved mechanical, physical and colloidal properties. In this way, the resulting reinforced latexes have a high solid content, adequate viscosity in terms of redispersibility and substrate wetting, as well as other characteristics such as: intensified lustre, pigment wetting dispersibility, penetration resistance, improved substrate wetting, high mechanical and shearing stability, high stability in relation to freezing/thawing and high polymer volume percent. Said characteristics confer unique advantages on the above-mentioned reinforced latexes for the use thereof in graphic art applications and in other similar coating applications.</p> |
