<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus and a coating method for spraying a coating liquid as liquid drops, excellent in spraying uniformity with reduced unevenness such as streak and coating failure. <P>SOLUTION: The coating apparatus comprises a slot nozzle spray device having a coating liquid nozzle for feeding the coating liquid over the application width in the direction crossing the conveyance direction of an object to be coated and a gas nozzle for jetting gas to the vicinity of an open end of the coating liquid nozzle, and coats the coating liquid on the object to be coated by forming the liquid drops by causing the gas to collide against the coating liquid. The slot nozzle sprayer has a pair of inner die blocks and outer die blocks placed outside of the inner die blocks. The coating liquid nozzle is formed between the two inner die blocks, and the gas nozzle is formed between the inner die blocks and the outer die blocks. The angle β formed between the coating liquid outlet of the coating liquid nozzle and the gas outlet of the gas nozzle is 15 degrees or more and 60 degrees or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
