PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording device of high reliability capable of transporting a recording sheet on a platen in the condition without levitation or slack both when the sheet is transported in the ink jet recording and transported in the reverse direction in double-side printing. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording device is equipped with a transport roller 1 to transport the recording sheet in pinching it, a sheet ejecting roller 12 installed downstream of the transport roller 1 and transporting the sheet in pinching it, and an inverting means 16 to invert the recording sheet when double-side recording is made, wherein a changeover means is provided whereby the ratio of the circumferential linear speed of the ejecting roller 12 to that of the transport roller 1 is equal or incremental when the sheet is transported in the ink jet recording and decelerative when transported in the reverse direction.
