PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching regulator in which a period of time up to a starting completion after powered on, can be shortened without generating an overshoot at an output voltage. SOLUTION: When the output voltage Vo becomes large up to a predetermined voltage after powered on, an overcurrent detecting level switching circuit 13 detects the predetermined voltage, switches the overcurrent detecting level to a small value, and reduces the switching current. The output voltage Vo becomes further large. When the output voltage Vo becomes a next predetermined voltage, the overcurrent detecting level switching circuit 13 switches the overcurrent detecting level to the overcurrent detecting level at the normal time. Thus, at the initial time of turning on the power source, the overcurrent detecting level is set to the large value, and when the output voltage of the switching regulator becomes a predetermined amplitude, the switching current immediately before arriving at the normal state can be reduced by setting the overcurrent detecting level to the small value, and the overshoot of the output voltage can be prevented.
