APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR OPERATING DISPLAY AND BACKLIGHT IN PORTABLE TERMINALS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a display mode or to turn on and off a backlight without a key input by a user in relation to a method for operating a display and a backlight in a portable terminal.

SOLUTION: The present invention comprises: a backlight for providing a light source to a display part or a key input part; a sensor for sensing a motion of the terminal with user operation; the display part for outputting display data thereon; a video processing part for receiving an input of display data, converting the display data in response to a control signal and outputting the display data via the display part; and a control part for performing control to turn on the backlight or to rotate and convert the display data via the video processing part if the motion of the portable terminal is sensed via the sensor while the backlight is turned off.
