<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an image forming apparatus configured, such that an image forming process can be achieved in which a toner deposition amount is reduced, while suppressing degradation of the granularity of highlighted areas which occur with the passage of time. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus comprising image carriers 1, an exposure device 3 for forming electrostatic latent images by exposing the image carriers; development devices 4 provided internally with at least toner for making the electrostatic latent images formed on the image carriers as toner images; transfer means 5, 8 for transferring the toner images onto a recording medium 7; and a fixing device 9 for fixing the toner images on the recording medium, an exposure energy modulating means for varying exposure energy in the exposure device 3 and a development operation time detecting means for detecting the operation time of the developing devices 4 are disposed, and exposure energy is modulated, according to results brought by the development operation time detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
