PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe material design method capable of cost reduction while securing safety, a manufacturing method of a pipe using the pipe material design method, and a pipe and a pipeline manufactured by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The pipe material design method has a pipe condition setting process for setting the diameter D and thickness t of a pipe, and required compression local buckling strainε<SB>req</SB>; a strain hardening characteristic acquiring process for finding a strain hardening characteristic in the vicinity of the buckling point of the pipe which should satisfy conditions set in the pipe condition setting process; and a process for setting the strain hardening characteristic as a condition which the stress-strain curve of the pipe should satisfy.
