The invention relates to a composite material for a plain bearing, comprising a steel support layer and a metal bearing layer consisting of a copper-zinc alloy that is applied to the support layer, for producing plain bearing elements, in particular plain bearing bushes and pillows for motive applications. Said material is characterised in that the copper-zinc alloy contains between 28 and 33 wt. % zinc and that an anti-friction layer with the composition AlSn (15-30) Cu (0.7-2.8) is directly sputtered onto the metal bearing layer.
