The tank cap for closing off a tank access opening has a movable cover with a filling opening. The filling opening (4) to occupy a closed position is retracted into the tank access opening and to occupy an open position (7) is extended out of it. The tank cover (5) has a section (8) to which is connected a circumferential wall (9) which at least partially protrudes into the tank access opening, with the filling opening constructed in the circumferential wall. An independent claim is included for a tank, especially for a commercial motor vehicle, equipped with the proposed tank cap.
