PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping material which can exhibit the effect of damping by quickly damping displacement arising by vibration caused on a honeycomb surface plate composing an anti-vibration table, an anti-vibration pedestal and all other structures to which damping is required and is moreover capable of performing effect of damping only by placing on arbitrary point on the structures with ease. SOLUTION: The damping material dampens the displacement by vibration transmitting on the structures by mounting on the structures to which the damping is required. The damping material includes space 8 around periphery on a bottom plate 7a within a block case 7 and provides to fix one face of a visco-elasticity body 1. The visco-elasticity body 1 is deformable in the enclosed block case 7. The damping material dampens the displacement by vibration because of a consumption of vibrational energy by the visco-elasticity body 1 deforming inside block case 7 when the vibrational energy is transmitted in the structures.
