PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple installing method, by which a lithographic printing plate can be installed to a gripper side clamp under a high positional accuracy at the sheet work of the lithographic printing plate having a support made of a paper sheet or a plastic resin film. SOLUTION: In the installing method, by which the lithographic printing plate having its support made of the paper sheet or the plastic resin film is installed to the gripper side clamp provided on the plate cylinder of a printing machine, some part of a safety cover is made freely allowable to open and close so as to bring it in a near straight line with the opening part of the gripper side clamp at the installation of the gripper side end edge part of the lithographic printing plate to the gripper side clamp. Further, by moving the lithographic printing plate along the inside of the safety cover, the gripper side end edge part is abutted against the gripper side clamp by utilizing the empty weight of the lithographic printing plate as an energizing force.
