PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an image forming apparatus is unreliable in terms of transporting paper because of the occurrence of the drum lap phenomenon that paper can not be separated from a photoreceptor drum and is stuck to the photoreceptor drum in a high-speed machine having a large-diameter photoreceptor in a transfer belt system. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus consists of a transfer device where transfer material is pushed on a toner image carrier through material to be transferred and charge having a reverse polarity to the toner is imparted to the back surface of the transfer material by a transfer unit, whereby the material to be transferred is attracted and transported so as to transfer and transport a toner image formed on an image carrier; and of an attracting roller for attracting the paper to the transfer belt. In the apparatus, the attracting roller is installed between the photoreceptor drum and a belt driven roller and press-contacts with the transfer belt. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
