PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display in which luminance of display is uniformized, from the viewpoint of the backlight. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with the backlight. The backlight is constituted of a cold cathode tube, disposed in a surface opposed to a liquid crystal display panel and a chassis supporting the cold cathode tube, wherein the cold cathode tube is so disposed that the distance between the chassis and the end part of the cold cathode tube on the side to which high voltage is applied is longer than the distance between the chassis and the end part thereof on the side, to which low voltage is applied.
