PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide grooving-work method and device for a spectacle lens for accurately forming a groove, while freely controlling depth and position of the groove to desired values. SOLUTION: When the lens 16 is positioned, a tool 131 to be an end mill approaches a point PO, while rotating by a prescribed number of rotation. When the approach is completed, the lens 16 starts to rotate clockwise on the drawing with a center point O as an axis. According to the rotation of the lens 16, the groove 162 of a depth d0 set in advance is formed on an end face 161. When the groove 162 is formed over the entire periphery of the lens 16, and returns to the point P0, the tool 131 is moved in the opposite direction to that at the time of the approach and is separated from the lens 16.
