PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roof for a functional gatepost, whose support itself is fitted with some sort of equipment and member as in the case of the functional gatepost 1, and which can protect the equipment and the member against rain and direct sunlight. SOLUTION: In this roof, a shingle 2 is arranged in an appropriate position on the support; a leading end side, far from the support, of the shingle 2 is supported on the support via a supporting rod 8; and a base part side, near the support, of the shingle 2 is supported via a supporting fitting 9, so that the shingle 2 can overhang at an appropriate angle from the support.
