PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display controller for performing control to display a picture in response to the taste of a user when the picture with low resolution is displayed in a display device with high resolution, and to provide a display control method therefor. SOLUTION: When the start or anterior display of an application program 103 is selected, an OS 101 transmits it to a conversion program 102. The conversion program 102 receives it and determines whether software for QVGA picture or not and its display method by referring to a software management table 120. When the necessity of conversion is determined, QVGA picture information generated by the application program 103 is converted by the designated display method, so as to generate VGA picture information. The converted picture information is plotted in a VRAM 15 via the OS 101 and a display driver 104 and displayed in an LCD 16 under the control of a graphic controller 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
