PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording apparatus which can instantly cope with a processing request of a user by reducing a waiting time due to erasing of data. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a recording means 101 recording control information including video recording data and information of data quantity of video recording data, a calculating means 102 calculating recordable capacity of the recording means, a first display control means 103 controlling display of the control information and information on the recordable capacity, a specifying means 104 specifying video recording data to be erased by a user based on the displayed control information and the information on the recordable capacity, a second display control means 105 controlling display of total capacity information on total amount of data of the video recording data and the recordable capacity, and a processing means 106 erasing the video recording data, and after confirming again displayed total capacity information, making the recording means start to record new video recording data.
