<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side air bag device capable of enhancing the air bag spreading performance without using any inflator of high output. <P>SOLUTION: A side air bag 11 is equipped with a first air bag portion 18 to protect the occupant P, at least his body upper part approximately from the breast, a second air bag portion 22 to protect approximately the waist of the occupant P, a third air bag portion 19 extending in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction in the spread condition, and a separator 17 and a bulkhead 20 as a gas flow restricting means whereby the gas generated by the inflator 15 flows into the first air bag portion 18 upon passing through at least either of the second air bag portion 22 and the third air bag portion 19. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
