PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized image reader which includes two image sensor units arranged opposite to each other across a document form to make an image read faster and reads both surfaces in a single document-feed time. SOLUTION: As shown in Fig., a light shielding member is arranged at some position halfway between a light source for document irradiation provided to one image sensor unit and a SELFOC lens array of the image sensor unit on the opposite side to eliminate direct incidence light which is transmitted through the document form to impinge on the SELFOC lens array of the opposite side. Consequently, information of the document reverse surface is not mixed and halation caused by the transmitted light is prevented to excellently read an image. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
