PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ethanol-containing gasoline free of phase separation, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The ethanol-containing gasoline, though mainly comprising hydrocarbons, contains 1-3 vol.% of ethanol and 0-20 vol.% of ethyl tertiary butyl ether. When the possible amount of moisture in the gasoline is denoted by H (volume ppm), the phase separation index Ph is≥0.0016×H+6.0 but≤0.0016×H+8.0, as calculated by the following phase separation index Ph equation: Phase separation index Ph=(20×C<SB>ETBE</SB>+10×C<SB>O</SB>+8×C<SB>A</SB>+7×(C<SB>P</SB>+C<SB>N</SB>))/100. In the formula, C<SB>ETBE</SB>, C<SB>O</SB>, C<SB>A</SB>, and C<SB>P</SB>+C<SB>N</SB>are the contents (vol.%) of ethyl tertiary butyl ether, olefin, aromatic, and paraffin+naphthene, respectively.
