[Also in Divisions B5 and F2] A gasket is made by depositing layers 3 of sealing material around apertures 2 in a metal or plastic support member by a screen printing process. Alternatively, the sealing material may be deposited on to a transfer member by a screen printing process and then transferred to the support member. If desired, the apertures may be formed after depositing the sealing material. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the sealing material is deposited on to a component 5 instead of on to a sheet to be inserted between two components. The sealing material may be acrylonitrile or silicone rubber and, during curing, may be compressed into various shapes by the apparatus illustrated in Figs. 13 to 19 (not shown). A further layer of sealing material may be deposited on top of the first layer, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown). |
